The view from our hotel. Taipei is vast. Li, David's teaching partner met us at the airport and got us settled in to the Howard Hotel in the NTNU Neighborhood - we meet up with people at noon. She warns David that Chinese students are shy in Chinese, even shyer in English.

Stopping over in Narita Airport, Tokyo which resembles every big airport I have ever been through if you don't count the Japanese writing above the English . This is the 3rd time I have been here - but since I didn't leave the airport - I can't say that I have ever been to Japan - the place is bustling - all sorts going everywhere

University Park Airport is compact, friendly and low key - a usually calm gateway to the air transport system- people leave here for everyplace in the world - although you couldn't really tell from the sleepy atmosphere

Friday evening- Just came back from seeing The Heat starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. I laughed; it's about as American a thing I can think of to do before heading off.  There's a big debate about it- is it such a deal to have two women instead of two men.  Is gross funny?  I laughed and laughed, so that's all I have to say about it.  Wonder how funny people from other cultures would find it.  


And in case you are wondering- the blog title image is the logo of Bunny Listens to the Music, an Italian restaurant in the neighborhood of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) where David and  I will be teaching.
